BRIAN LE BRUN

The players at Cheltenham hockey club were very saddened to learn about the sudden death of Brian Le Brun, on Sunday 20th July. Brian umpired for Cheltenham on many occasions and was well thought of by all. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

SUMMER SUCCESSES

Congratulations to CHC Ladies (with a few guests appearances) who played at the annual Gloucester 6s tournament on Sunday 22nd July. The team won two rounds of pooled games and met Bretforton in the final. The girls then brought home the beer (literally) by winning 3-0. Players included: Lorna Bowman, Vanessa Burton, Corrie Farrell, Georgina Jefferies, Fiona Maffey, Daisy Noble, Harriet Pearce and Michelle Walker.

More success for the Ladies 1s on Tuesday 29th July, comprehensively beating Lansdown Ladies 4-2, in the Summer League. This bodes very well for the coming season!

The Ladies 3s are also enjoying a positive run of form in the Bretforton Summer League. In a recent clash against Droitwich, the ladies came away with a one-all draw. The captain, Becci Brown was delighted to see a lot of new players involved in this game. Despite the extreme heat, the ladies fought hard for everything. Good game ladies!

CHC 100 CLUB

Join the Cheltenham 100 Club - It's a chance for everyone that enters to win money, whilst raising funds for the hockey club.

For those that don't know how the 100 Club works, you have the opportunity to "buy" a number ranging from 1 - 100, for the coming season. Numbers are drawn each month, and the first numbers ones out win cash prizes. Simple as that!

If all 100 are taken and people still want to enter, then numbers over 100 will then be used as well. If more people enter, then there will be extra money for prizes!

There are 7 draws per season, the first one taking place in October. Every month, the first ball drawn wins £25, with smaller cash prizes for the second and third balls drawn. There is also a larger jackpot draw once per season.

The cost to purchase your number for the season is just £10. Email Peter Duffy on apprenticeduffy@hotmail.com or call him on 07841 523 559 to reserve your number. As soon as we sell the first 100 numbers, we will add more so the prize fund will continue to rise. You can buy as many numbers as you want, so get your friends and family involved.

The first draw for this coming season is October 2008!

COACHING THE JUNIOR SECTION

Code of Conduct

During the recent England Hockey road shows, the subject of behavior within the game was one of the hot topics. Following ongoing work, England Hockey has now brought together all of the existing codes of conduct and created the new Code of Ethics and Behaviour which will provide a benchmark for acceptable behaviour within our sport. The Code simplifies and standardises previous procedures and will allow all of the Hockey Family to work to one set of common standards. The Code will come into effect on 1st September ready for the new season and will apply across the sport in England.
